Assistant Director

Director of Photography

Karla cut her teeth on technical theatre in Newfoundland as a stage manager at Theatre Newfoundland Labrador's Gros Morne Theatre Festival and with the amazing Sara..h McDonald for TNL’s Youth Theatre Program for the first decade and a half of her career.  With TNL, she was afforded the opportunity over the years to be part of some amazing projects that included multiple international tours with Tempting Providence.  As well, she was the stage manager for an exchange project with the Youth Theatre Program that saw her travel around Tasmania, Australia and Newfoundland with two groups of talented teenagers from both islands and two unique performances workshopped just for the project.  Some of these students have went on to become some of the movers and shakers in theatre and other professional streams in Newfoundland, Canada and Australia.  She acknowledges this project and its many beautiful moments as the proudest of her career.

In 2008, she joined the crew of the Arts and Culture Centre in Corner Brook as a part time technician and since then has worked hard to hone her skills as a lighting designer and theatre technician with many thanks to her friend and mentor, Harry Tibbo.  Now, as a full time technician at the Centre, Karla has been blessed to be part of mounting many new productions for local companies including Camber Arts (Trolley Car, The Beatles Spectacular, Seussical The Musical) and Off Broadway Players (Rent, Chicago, Cabaret).

Karla is proud to be part of a growing arts community in Corner Brook and in Newfoundland.  With the support of her family, she looks forward to all of the incredible projects to come and hopes that she can continue to inspire people with her colors and lights as much as her drive and determination to achieve beautiful art.
