Wayne Rogers
Wayne Rogers holds a B. Mus degree in Performance and Music Education, and a M. Mus in Organ Literature and Performance. In 1977, Wayne was appointed Director of Music at MUN Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, Corner Brook, NL, and conducted Grenfell College Chorale, Grenfell College Chamber Singers, Grenfell College Jazz Ensemble and Humber Singers. He was Camp Director and Administrator for MUN Music Camps, 1985-1990. Wayne is presently Minister of Music at St. Matthew’s United Church, Halifax, NS since 2007, following a ten-year music ministry at Trinity United Church, New Glasgow, NS, 1997-2007. He served as Organist and Choirmaster, First United Church, Corner Brook, NL 1982-1997, and St. Thomas’ Anglican Church, St. John’s, NL, 1971-1977.
Wayne has conducted numerous vocal, organ and choral workshops, adjudicated at music festivals across Canada, and actively examined for Royal Conservatory of Music, Conservatory Canada, and Mount Allison University. He presently conducts St. Matthew’s United Church Choir and AcabellA [handbell choir]. In Halifax, he conducted EnChor East, 2008-2018, and Seton Cantata Choir 2008-2013, and premiered Mary Knickle’s choral works: Seafarers’ Requiem (2014) and The Halifax Explosion (2018). Wayne taught organ for the Fountain School of Performing Arts, Dalhousie University, 2018-2021, and maintains an active private studio.
